STEAM LEARNING LABS

Creekside Elementary is proud to have STEAM Learning Labs available for all your students, TK-5th Grade. Students are able to participate in hands on activities and lessons based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The STEAM Learning Labs provides students with opportunities for inquiry based learning and rich academic conversations that prepare our students to be 21st century learners.  Teachers are encouraged to use these STEAM Labs as catalysts that inspire future STEAM lessons that they plan within their own classrooms.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Creekside Elementary has been serving our students and community since 1987.  Our school mascot is a cub and our scholars, teachers, and staff ensure that all our students "Climb to Success!" We have many great programs at our school, such as AVID, the Dual Language Immersion Program, eSports, and STEAM Learning Labs.

As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), students learn to CLIMB. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Caring Citizens, Lifelong Learners, Inclusive of Others, Motivated, and Believing in ourselves. Last year, Creekside implemented a student school store rewards system with PBIS Rewards. Students have the opportunity to display the CLIMB expectations and earn prizes such as "lunch with the principal."

Our school site was also recognized for our Parent Ambassador Program last year and has been AVID Certified for the past 8 years.

Creekside Elementary staff and students, in partnership with parents and the community, are committed to creating a future generation in which all students' strengths, special talents, and unique qualities will be valued. We are creating a future generation in which students will be productive citizens and contributors to the global effort of improving our world. Our students' goal is to be college and career ready and exemplify the MVUSD's Portrait of a Graduate!

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

Creekside Elementary is proud it say that we are 1 of 8 elementary schools in the Moreno Unified School District that is AVID Certified. Our teachers, staff, and students work hard to help prepare our Creekside Cubs to be college and career ready.

What is AVID Elementary?

By teaching and reinforcing academic behaviors and higher-level thinking at a young age, AVID Elementary teachers create a ripple effect in later grades. Elementary students develop the academic habits they will need to be successful in middle school, high school, and college, in an age-appropriate and challenging way. Children learn about organization, study skills, communication, and self-advocacy. AVID Elementary students take structured notes and answer and ask high-level questions that go beyond routine answers.

The strong college-going culture on an AVID Elementary campus encourages students to think about their college and career plans. Schools cover their walls with college pennants and banners, and educators speak about their college experiences. College and careers are no longer foreign concepts, and teachers provide the academic foundation students need to be on a path for college and career success. AVID Elementary closes the opportunity gap before it begins (avid.org).
